What makes Stargazer Gourmet meals different?
Stargazer Gourmet is different because we don’t create “camp food” — we create real food for real life and real adventures. Born from a love of travel, comfort food, and the belief that food should nourish both body and spirit, our meals are inspired by the places we’ve been, the flavors we’ve fallen in love with, and the moments shared around a table — even when that table is under the stars. Every recipe is thoughtfully handcrafted in small batches, always gluten-free, and created with no fillers, no shortcuts, and no compromises — just beautifully made meals that feel indulgent, comforting, and deeply satisfying.
Are your meals gluten-free and allergy-safe?
Yes. All meals are 100% gluten-free and coconut-free. Many are also dairy-optional or can be customized. Every recipe is crafted with strict attention to ingredient sourcing and kitchen safety.
What’s the difference between freeze-dried and dehydrated meals?
Freeze-drying preserves about 97% of nutrients and the original texture, while dehydrating retains closer to 50–60%. Freeze-dried meals rehydrate faster, taste fresher, and last longer.
How do I prepare the meals?
Just add hot water! Each pouch includes detailed rehydration instructions — most meals are ready in 8–12 minutes. You can also prep them in a pot or Jetboil while camping.
How long do the meals last?
Unopened meals typically last up to 10 years when stored in a cool, dry place. Once opened, enjoy within a few days for best flavor.
Can I eat them cold if I don’t have a stove?
Yes — add room-temperature water and wait 30–40 minutes. Texture will vary, but flavor stays intact.
Do you ship?
Yes! Orders can be shipped anywhere in the U.S. Local pickup may also be available for Northern California customers.
Can I request custom meals?
Absolutely. Custom orders are available for dietary restrictions, group trips, or personal favorites. Just email StargazerGourmet@yahoo.com with your request.
How are the meals packaged?
Meals are sealed in high-barrier pouches with oxygen absorbers for long-term freshness. Each label lists ingredients, allergens, and preparation instructions.
Where are the meals made?
Every dish is cooked, tested, and packaged in small batches in Shanon’s kitchen in Adin, California — with care, creativity, and a little stardust.
Who makes your meals?
Every meal is handcrafted by Shanon Dean, founder of Stargazer Gourmet. Each recipe starts in her own kitchen in Adin, California — slow-cooked, taste-tested, and packed by hand.
Why did you choose these meals?
Each dish comes from real food Shanon loves — recipes developed during years of travel and refined for people with celiac disease or food allergies who still want flavor and adventure. Nothing goes on the menu unless it tastes like home.
Are your meals gluten-free and coconut-free?
Yes — always. Stargazer Gourmet was created specifically for those with celiac or coconut allergies. Every batch is carefully sourced, cooked, and sealed to avoid cross-contamination.
Can I rehydrate my meal in the bag?
Yes! Add hot water directly into the pouch, seal it, and wait 8–12 minutes. Stir halfway for even rehydration. If you prefer, pour it into a bowl and enjoy it like a freshly cooked meal.
What’s the shelf life?
When stored properly (cool, dark, dry space), your meals can last up to 10 years. Once opened, enjoy within a few days for best flavor and texture.
What did I do wrong? My food is mushy or too watery.
You probably added a little too much water or didn’t let it sit long enough. Start with less water — you can always add more. After a few tries, you’ll find your perfect texture.
How can I dispose of the bag?
Our pouches are durable for long-term storage, but not yet curbside recyclable. Please remove oxygen absorbers and dispose of pouches responsibly. We’re exploring compostable and recyclable options for future batches.
Where can I buy your meals?
Order directly from our website or by email at StargazerGourmet@yahoo.com. We also attend select pop-ups and regional markets — follow us on Instagram @stargazer_gourmet for updates.
Do you offer discounts for government employees, military, or educators?
Not at this time, but it’s something we hope to offer in the future.
Stargazer Gourmet is currently a small-batch, founder-run business, and we’re focused on building a sustainable foundation. As we grow, we absolutely plan to explore special programs for military, educators, and public servants.
Are you hiring?
Not yet — we’re still a one-woman show with a few helping hands. But as Stargazer Gourmet grows, we’ll be looking for adventurous souls who love good food and the outdoors. Stay tuned!
I’m a retailer. How do I stock your meals?
We’d love to connect! Please reach out at StargazerGourmet@yahoo.com with your store details, and we’ll share wholesale options and minimum order quantities.
